Patrick L. Rocco is a former federal prosecutor with exceptional trial credentials. He has prosecuted and tried numerous securities, bank and tax fraud cases, and cases involving far-ranging and complex conspiracies. His achievements while in the U.S. Attorney's office resulted in several honors and awards, including the U.S. Attorney's Special Achievement Award, the U.S. Inspector General's Integrity Award, a Letter of Commendation from the Director of the FBI, and his nomination and service as an instructor at the U.S. Department of Justice Trial Advocacy Institute.
Mr. Rocco has recently spearheaded the effort that has recovered over $180 million for investors in the Lernout & Hauspie Securities Litigation. The settlements in that case included a $115 million recovery from KPMG, which at the time was the third highest settlement with an accounting and auditing firm in a U.S. securities fraud action. Mr. Rocco regularly counsels and represents prominent bond funds and institutional investors in federal and state courts. He is special counsel to some of the country's largest state pension funds, and he is currently heavily involved in the litigation of two of the largest securities fraud actions pending in the country.
Mr. Rocco is a cum laude graduate of Rutgers Law School and received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Rutgers College. In law school, he was Associate Articles Editor for the Rutgers Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Rocco was Law Clerk to United States District Judge Dickinson R. Debevoise in the District of New Jersey. He then was an associate with the New York City law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel for five years, where his practice focused primarily upon federal securities law and commercial litigation.
From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Rocco served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of New Jersey, and from 2001 through 2002, he was associated with the law firm of Milberg Weiss, where, among other things, he played a leading role in the prosecution of the Lucent Securities Litigation (which settled for more than $600 million).
He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York and the District of New Jersey.
